Windows provides a fantastic platform for rich and visually pleasing applications. We write almost always in C#, although we are also happy to work with C++ or Visual Basic if required.
When working with databases, we use SQL and features of .NET to isolate ourselves from any particular database provider. However, when setting up a new database system, we usually use a version of Microsoft SQL Server, depending on the database requirements.
