Database Systems

Central to every serious business, the database provides the main repository of business critical information. Getting this system right from the start is crucial to the future of the business. Here at Code Crafters we have the experience and expertise to guide you through the right technology choices, and ultimately in building a database system that is not only efficient, but designed from the start to accommodate what the future may hold.

Upgrading Existing Systems #

Aging databases built on yesterday’s technology often prove a huge bottle neck for established businesses. A common requirement for new projects is that the existing database be upgraded to improve efficiency and support new data. Whether your data is stored in a single Microsoft Access file or across multiple spreadsheets, we are experienced at extracting this data and building it into a single and considerably more advanced system.

Simpler Access #

To harness the power of your data, it is vital to use the appropriate access method. Directly working with data is cumbersome and inefficient, and so the need for a dedicated portal is vital. We spend most of our time constructing user interfaces to do just that, whether that be through a web page, installed application or a smart phone. We take pride that all the user interfaces we create follow strict guidelines of simplicity, are visually pleasing and rich in features.

Technologies #

When it comes to a database solution there are a large variety of options, and we have the knowledge to choose the right one for the job. The most important aspect of any database technology is support for SQL, which is the primary communication language between any data storage system and interfacing software.

Microsoft

This is the most common choice, as it naturally lends its self to the Windows operating system, and comes with a variety of tools which help speed up development of applications. Depending on the size of the project, we can choose from a variety of editions, some of which are free to use. For larger projects, we recommend Microsoft SQL Server.

Oracle

Similar in scale to the high end versions of Microsoft SQL Server, this database system is also ideal for large projects.
